So last night I had the pleasure to gig Chaplins Cellar Bar, Bournemouth. This bar is great, has a Camden Town vibe to it and a stage that anybody under 5 foot would have difficulty mounting. The crowd were fantastic and the gig itself was brilliantly hosted and run by the The Den Comedy Club and the legend that is Dennis Pratt.
This was a nervous time for me as the new set that I have been working on for a couple of months finally got it's official debut. It is so difficult to move completely away from material that you know works and throw yourself to the mercy of the crowd. Comedy Part II seemed to go down well. An initial look of bewilderment and "who the hell is this" was soon replaced with a audience understanding of my point of view. I am happy. The feedback was good. I am no longer a one rant pony.
With a date at The Comedy Store looming on the horizon I owe Dennis a big favour on the back of last night as this has boosted my confidence no end.
The King Gong event will be a date which will go down in infamy...
